Abstract: The software services industry is a knowledge intensive industry. This knowledge provides an organization with most effective differentiating edge in this industry. This knowledge comes from the competencies of its employees and knowledge gained during working on customer projects. Unfortunately, a large extent of knowledge is locked within its employees and not explicitly stored somewhere. The onus now lies on an organization to unlock and tap this knowledge effectively for its own use. Many organizations have realized the need to manage the knowledge present within and in recent years many of them have come up with systems and processes to enable and motivate the employees to share knowledge. This project analyzes the knowledge management systems deployed at Infosys Technologies Ltd., a leading India based software services provider. We are using the framework provided by Bukowitz and Williams to understand the current systems. This study is on Strategic Knowledge management where we focus on how the organization assesses its current knowledge assets and identifies the needs of the future.
