dc.description.abstract | Many companies start off thanks to the entrepreneurial thoughts of individuals. Most of these companies do not see the light of day beyond the rollout stage, when the organization faces the realities of the market. Impulse soft is a company which took birth in the mind of few techno savvy individuals who had the dream of establishing a technology business from India, a place which is otherwise dominated by technology services firms or captive technology units of MNCs. Impulse soft has survived the storms of a new company entering a market based on a new technology. After establishing itself as a strong software technology solutions provider in Bluetooth, the company is faced with a new challenge of moving onto the growth trajectory. With the fact that a singular offering, that of a Bluetooth software solution, not being sustainable over a long period of time becoming evident, the company is looking opportunities of growth. Growth can happen by integrating vertically in the value chain, or expanding horizontally in other software domain. Through this report an evaluation of these options is done based on the technology positioning, segment of the value chain that Impulse soft occupies, and relative positioning of competitors. Through the analysis it becomes evident that any company in order to grow needs to acquaint itself and contribute significantly to the ecosystem around it. Based on the choice of positioning the current opportunities and future challenges have been evaluated. The key learnings from this activity have been listed towards the end of this report. These learnings are generic and probably hold true for any technology startup that is planning to ramp up on the growth curve. It is therefore important to design the organizational blueprint based on these realizations. | |
