Abstract: Everyone wants their business to grow. When growth is a universal quest for all business: small or big, one question to ponder is why some companies succeed while the others don t. Companies that move from the entrepreneurial stage to the growth stage undergo a transition period where things which have so far been working fine have to be changed. The growth of the organization shows that this is a period of reinvention for the companies in terms of various aspects. Successful growth requires mastering such issues as financial needs, human resources, technological alterations, competitive challenges, and market demands that were not present when the company was smaller. It is not just selling more, but How , When , Where and What one is trying to sell, that matter the most. Also, organizational transitions require change in leadership factors as well. Different leadership styles are suitable at different phases of organizational growth. No matter how strong the founders of anorganization are, they would not be able to nurture and sustain the organization across various phases of its lifecycle. If this reinvention doesn t happen, companies can die a slow death even though the business is very good. Our project aims to study the factors responsible for success or failure of organizations. In doing so, we also take a few case studies of real-life organizations which have shown exemplary performance against all odds.
