dc.description.abstract | Advances in mobile devices, coupled with the relatively cheap and easy access to mobile broadband, portend major changes in how consumers interact with content. As cell phones get smarter, people are using them less to make calls and more to text, shop, read news, play games, engage with social networks and perform routine tasks. The way people consume the internet content is dramatically changing. Mobile presence is fast becoming a force multiplier of adoption for services online; they become teaser or an engaging agent as well. It is critical to provide high quality, locally relevant mobile content for consumers and advertisers. On the other hand services online need be ubiquitous and deliver on all platforms. The attempt made in this research is to do a focused study on the content consumption of web and mobile media to find out patterns and differences of the two media types. Find out key insights on what users like about each channel of communication vs. the unfulfilled need, want and desires on mobile/web usage. Try to provide some suggestion for ways in which user traffic on each content type can be further strengthened based on consumer behavior study. As discussed there is a strong need to study the consumption pattern of mobile vs. web users and analyze the pattern to find out similarities and differences in consumption patterns of content between mobile and web. This report will help and guide developers and marketers of next generation mobile applications and services, by giving insights and contrasting content consumption patterns in web versus mobile. An attempt has been made to find out the critical elements for a successful mobile strategy for companies. This project has been done as part of projects floated by Yahoo! India R and D for PGSEM students. This project has been done with the supervision of Nidhi Gupta, Product Manager, Yahoo! R and D | |
