dc.description.abstract | India snearlytwothirdpopulationislivinginruralareas.Agricultureandalliedindustriesarethemajorsourceofincomeforruralpopulation.Unpredictedmonsoons,continuousdroughts,andnaturalcalamitiesmadeagricultureunviable.Agricultureyieldhasreduceddrasticallyduetouneconomicallandholdingpatternandusingprimitivemethodsofagriculture.Combinationoflowornilagriculutreyieldshaspushedlargepartofruralpopulationintopoverty.AgriculturecontributioninIndia sGDPis17%in2014. 15asagainst52%in1950.Currentlymorethan200millionruralpopulationislivingunderBelowPovertyLine(BPL).UnionGovernmenthasallocated1.85lakhcrorein2017---18Budgettowardsruraldevelopment.Inspiteofhugebudgetspendsbysuccessivegovernments,thesituationhasnotimprovedinruralareas.Incontrast,ruraltourbanmigrationforemploymenthasbeenrisingyearafteryear,resultingintounmanagableslumdwellingsincitiescombinedwithpatheticlivingconditions.Thefocusofthispolicypaperistofindanoptimalandviablesolutionforeachvillageorforagroupofvillagestoaddresstheagrariancrisisandmigrationissues.Thepolicyresearchhasfocussedindevelopingminimumviableproduct(MVP)tobringdownruraltourbanmigration.Thestudyincludesanalysisofrootcausesforcurrentsituation,governmentinterventions,primaryandsecondaryresearchdataanalysis,andbenchmarkanalysis.ThestudyresultsshowsthatthereisaneedtodevelopMVPthatwouldbringcreativedisruptionincurrentlivingstructureofruralIndia.MVPdevelopedwouldusethefourprinciplesofcreativedisruptionviz;connectivity,aggregation,surpluslabor,andnon---farmdiversification.MVPkeycomponentsare;affordablehousing,digitaleducation,skilldevelopment,andlivelihoodlinkages.ThescopeofthepolicypaperhasbeenextendedtodesignthepilotprojecttotesttheMVPthroughLeanCanvas.Leancanvascomprisesuniquevalueproposition,unfairadvantage,hypothesistesting,developingthemarketingplanandfinancemodellingforpilotproject.Theobjectiveofdesigningandimplementationofthepilotprojectistoachievethehockeystickgrowthbyscaling---upthetestedMVP,whichwouldhavepositiveimpactonqualityoflifeofmillionsofpeople. | - |
