Bangalore is India’s fifth largest metropolis and one of Asia’s fastest growing cities. With the burgeoning population (by 2021 the Bangalore population is expected to cross 107.80 lakh 1), the demand for infrastructure in transportation has increased as well. The ‘floating population’ in Bangalore has taken its toll on the city. Further the transformation of the city from the Garden City to the Silicon City of India, has resulted in the influx of foreign nationals into the city and consequent need for facilities of international caliber as well. In this regard the existing road infrastructure has proved to be woefully inadequate.en_US
