dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the evolution of competition in telecommunications in India. It begins by describing the experience with liberalization in cellular mobile services and basic services Factors affecting competition such as the number of players and regulation are discussed with reference to the two segments. An attempt is made to ascertain the degree of competition Further, this paper discusses the history of policy making in the telecommunications sector. It ends by discussing the lessons regulators can learn from this experience
