This includes the operation and maintenance of about 275,000 kilometers of pipeline including approximately 6000 kilometers of steel pipelines operating at pressures up to 85 Bar called, National Transmission System (NTS). From more than 150 off-take points, the National Transmission system delivers gas to 13 Local Distribution Zones equipped with low-pressure pipes. The integrated Gas Transportation ensures that Gas is transported for 80 odd customers called Shippers and supplied to the meters of approximately 20 million domestic, Industrial and commercial consumers. Transco is also responsible for the safety of the network from off-take points to the customer meters. It is also solely responsible for the Gas Emergency Service and has the statutory responsibility for attending to gas leaks and emergencies 24 hours a day. Besides maintaining and operating the transmission network to deliver the gas and managing the commercial activities associated with gas transmission, Transco responsibility also includes Capacity Booking and Trading, Allocations, Measurements, Contracts Management, Supply Point management, Meter detail maintenance, Management, Asset management, Network Balancing, Energy Balancing, providing information within the stipulated times to it's valued customers and Invoicing it's customers for the services rendered. A number of computer Engineering and Information systems are deployed across Transco to enable the effective management of Transco business and this includes a combination of software products, disparate bespoke solutions, spreadsheets and other systems. In order to provide better business support and to manage the very large workforce distributed geographically across UK, Transco has also automated its back-office functions. These systems include AT-Link, UK-Link, Invoicing 95, Work and Asset Management Applications, TeAR, RGTA, SPA, Sites&Meters, CSEPs, Billing Applications like Adhoc Adjustments, One-Off Adjustments, Consumption Adjustments, Bulk Adjustments, daily and Non Daily Metering Systems, SC95, ConQuest, E&MW Applications, Field Applications, Operational Data Stores, Meter Asset Management Systems and SAP. | URI: | http://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/123456789/5071 |
