dc.description.abstract | "More and more consumer worldwide are making mobile phone their primary communications device, and in some cases abandoning their land lines altogether. The movement is possible in large part because intense competition among wireless carriers has driven the monthly price of mobile phone service down 39 percent over the last decade. (Washington Post) With ever increasing market for mobile communications and highest penetration rates (10 yrs to reach 10% of worldwide household as compared to 70 yrs for telephone), companies worldwide are looking into Mobile Internet as a most potential technology for the coming years. Rapid globalization has forced Indian IT companies, Wipro Technologies (WT) being one of them, to be proactive in this arena, The objective of this project is to study this high technology space of "Mobile internet1" markets and develop a competitive growth strategy for Wipro Technologies, As the global competition is increasing day-by-day, and the low cost competitive advantage for the Indian software firms is eroding gradually, Wipro Technologies needs sustainable competitive advantage in these technologies to keep the top line growing (or the bottom line intact in present global economy slowdown environment!!!). Wipro*s recent **4x4 vision11 of becoming a $4 billion company by the year 2004 necessitates critical analysis of its current strategy, The recent slowdown of the US economy with WTC attack has distant the dream. The only ray of hope is aggressive growth into the emerging technologies, one among the very few choices is Mobile Internet. | en_US |
