This report presents a study of Competency Modeling focused on Motorola India, Competency Modeling study has two aspects - Competence studies that describe what people need to be able to do to do a job well where focus is on output. Secondly, Competency which is defined as dimensions of behavior which tie behind competent performance. This study included Competences and Competencies for 5 Engineering Roles - Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Lead Engineer, Project Manager and Program Manager, The initial sections detail key definitions and concepts on Competence and Competency analysis including definitions, dictionary, how to design a study to arrive at models, Subsequent sections provide a brief background on Motorola and its Organization Design (various aspects including organization core competences). The next sections present the output of the Competence and Competency study for the roles chosen. The study has taken as input the Organization core competencies needed to meet short and long term business goals. The output is a mode! that provides a guidance graph to the organization and individual on what competences/competencies are to be built/acquired as one moves up the career ladder from one role to another Various literature (mentioned in reference) were read to get a clear understanding of the subject, Questionnaires were prepared to help structure interviews with senior members as well as for data collection to aid the study. | URI: | http://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/123456789/5460 |
