Abstract: After reviewing the working of workers' participation in management as existing in India and abroad, the author comes to the conclusion that when we do not have the basic provision for recognition of a representative union to tackle the day-to-day problems in industrial relations, when we have not developed healthy collective bargaining practices in most of our industries, when joint consultative machinery has not worked effectively to gain sufficient experience of orderly management-union interactions, it is paradoxical that we are talking of workers' participation in managerial decision-making Basing on this premise, he makes several suggestions to prepare the ground work for the success of workers' participation in management.
