dc.description.abstract | Today’s mantra in business is ‘survival of the adaptive’, not the ‘survival of the fittest’. So, in this changing scenario, the critical challenge what we have is that at what pace and how quick we can acclimate the varying situation. The current environment of Business is having multi- dimension and, complex, and also it is having far-reaching impact on the organisations. The developing economy and GDP growth rate in India have increased the demand for helicopters and India is one among the fastest growing helicopter markets in the world. This combined with current government’s policies and Make in India drive has further boosted the demand for Helicopter production from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The opening of Indian business environment to aerospace and defence programs, changing government policies; the focus of global aerospace leaders on Indian private partnerships and foreign direct investments in this segment have thrown several challenges in front of us. It is the ability that how quick are we in adapting to the changing environment will pen our fortunes to remain survival and fittest too. The change which HAL can adapt soon is the modification of its supply chain management system. HAL is a vertical integrator company and involved in all of its value chains. The concept of vertical integrator was successful post globalisation. Major aircraft manufacturer like Boeing, Airbus only act as an aircraft integrator, and they do just core competency activity with themselves and rest of the operation were done by their vendors. In today’s era, effective supply chain network provides a competitive edge, so HAL also has to change its philosophy and became “Manufacturer to Integrator”. In view of the above my project deal with in what way HAL can improve on its supply chain management system. My project will explain the criticality of IDS(Integrated Dynamic System) which is used in Advance Light Helicopter and Light Combat Helicopter. And how by optimising IDS supply chain process we can improve the production rate of the helicopter which intern not only will help helicopter division but HAL as a whole. | - |
