Abstract: This paper suggests the optimal organisational structure for the Competition Authority of India (CCI), the principal competition regulatory body in India. Initially CCI could adopt a functional structure. Next, when its environment is likely to be more complex but segmented it should transition to a divisional structure. In the long run, when it will probably face a complex and dynamic environment it should adopt the matrix structure as the permanent form.
