This paper presents the results of a global research study among Chief Purchasing Officers on the impact of purchasing and supply management (PSM) practices on performance indicators. A conceptual framework is developed to comprehensively evaluate PSM practices and their interrelations at an aggregated level. The empirical results support most of the hypothesised relationships in the framework and identify those PSM practices which have a strong impact on performance.
