Abstract: The challenge most retailers face is to increase ‘share-of-spends' amongst consumers across retail formats in India. A recent study released by the BMI India Retail Report for the third quarter of 2010, forecasts that total retail sales will grow from $353 billion in 2010 to $543.2 billion by 2014. The increase in retail sales growth can be attributed to increasing personal wealth, an apparent trend amongst consumers towards increasing personal consumption expenditure and improved retail infrastructure in the country.
