Abstract: Summer internship started with a 2-day orientation programme followed by the summerprojects. The internship involved two projects: 1. Demand Assessment of Glycol Ethers in India, & 2. Developing a Price Forecasting Model for Ethylene Oxide Derivatives. 1). Demand Assessment of Glycol Ethers in India The EO business was planning to forward integrate into glycol ethers and the project assigned to me involved studying and assessing the applications and demand-supply of glycol ethers in India. The project was aimed at identifying whether a strong case for demand of glycol ethers existed in India or not. 2). Developing a Price Forecasting Model for EO Derivatives The objectives of this project were to understand the underlying inter-relationship in the prices of different ethylene oxide derivatives and to come up with a price forecasting model for these derivatives. The project turned out to be really interesting and challenging as these derivatives were co-products implying that production of one will be done at the expense of other greatly affecting the concerned businesses.
