dc.description.abstractThe eight week internship in Equity Sales HK, had a different perspective than the internship in previous ye.ars, which was more on a rolling basis at different desks every 2 weeks. After being assigned to the desk, the primary objective was to help out the team members in any tasks and also to take initiatives to demonstrate your capabilities. It was a 2 way proooss of knowing whether you would like to work at the desk as well as nthey would like to work with you. There was a mid-term and final review process. We were encouraged to flag to the HR in case we would like to switch desks, not to try them out but because the current desk was not the best fit. There was no specific project as such. Initially, the primary 3 objectives were 1) Work with Gavin on the Standard Chartered Deal 2) Help team members on any requests 3) Identify and flag any relations in news flow on various sectors. However, as time passed by the ·200 objective was the most time consuming part, so much so that the other objectives had to be prioritized lower than them. This also depended on team dynamics and other factors beyond controL So the tasks perfurmed by me ranged from scheduling and organizing client meetings, preparing for daily morning meetings to providing summary of reports, deal meetings as well as working on client presentations. However a lot of initiatives had to be taken to be able to reach this level I also highlighted few trade ideas, primarily working over the weekend, to demonstrate my understanding of the market. We were also encouraged to talk to members of different desk.<; and build a network over the term of the internship. My feedback has been good and I had en...'mI'ed that Equity sales desks in Singapore and Mumbai had also heard about me. In fact I was asked to meet the Mumbai team just after the internship got over. Overall a sureessful endeavour, awaiting results in another 2-3 months.
