My internship as pointed above, was in the FICC division at the trading desk. We started with an orientation programme wherein the heads of all the different departments of the company (lBD, Equity Markets, Equity Research, FICC Markets etc) came and spoke about their divisions. The audience comprised the 11M interns across campuses. Post this, we started reporting at our designated desks. The dealing room in which I was interning had a strong FX and Institutional Credit Sales team along with the FX and Rates Trading desks. I therefore spent time with everyone in the room and got a fair exposure to Sales along with Trading to which I was officially assigned. Moreover, I also got to visit the Equity side and Research divisions during the course of the 2 months which made it a good learning experience . Apart from working on the project which I have described below, I also spent a fair bit of time helping out traders and sales people in small tasks such as booking deals, modifying sheets, quoting runs and the like. I also went on two client calls and was allowed to listen to global conference calls. The internship ended with a presentation made by me to the seniors from my desk on my project.
