dc.description.abstract | The internship at Emergent Ventures India Pvt. Ltd. lasted for 8 weeks (from April 5, 2010 to May 28, 2010). The first day at office was dedicated to an induction program where the interns were given an overview of the work done by EVI and also got to interact with the top management and other senior folks from various divisions within EVI. The purpose of my project was to explore consulting opportunities for EVI in Europe, Africa and US environment solution markets in the climate value business area. The potential collaborators could be consulting firms, financial institutions, non-profit organizations or universities and associations working in the climate change area. Apart from performing a comprehensive analysis of the various players in the sustainability landscape of the Europe, African and US markets, I also assisted the EVI team in their business development activities through the creation of client facing collaterals and the creation of concept papers. The work that I did can broadly be classified into 2 areas: Technical and Business Development. Technical: I focused on doing a thorough analysis of the various climate change related services being provided by various consulting firms and funding agencies across the globe with special focus on the Europe, African and U.S markets. I also interacted with folks from Europe to design the services that EVI would offer in those markets. Business Development: I had to create concept papers on specific sectors/industries and also develop collaterals that EVI could use for its business development activities. The collaterals were designed to present a holistic view to the emerging markets regarding the nature of work that EVI undertakes in its various business verticals. I also had to come up with means by which EVI could collaborate with embassies of various nations such as French, Netherlands, Britain, Finland and Belgium. The interns were also required to attend training sessions conducted by senior personnel at regular intervals. These sessions were aimed at providing us an overview of the work being done by EVI in various sectors - ranging from carbon advisory to carbon financing to policy related work to other sustainability related initiatives. | |
