dc.description.abstract	The report attempts. to appraise the domestic steel scenario in context of the present trends, both domestic and international. Steel continues to be the basic industrial materials of the foundation on which modern civilisation is built. Through the years the position of the steel industry has varied in the hierarchy 01 industrial sectors. These Fluctuations were due to scientific and technological development as well as structural changes which have changed the economics of several countries. New competitors have joined old ones to displace steel markets.
