Abstract: OFB as a part of its diversification strategy is going to introduce six industrial products into the market. Of these Wind Electricity Generators (WEG) market with the government is a product which has a realising the potential growing of wind energy. WEG's would be an additional product in a new market for OFB. The aim of the project was to survey the WEG market in order to check the potential for OFB entry. In India WEG is a recent phenomena with the total instal led capacity being of the order of 100 MW. The government is encouraging the installation of WEG' s in the private sector by providing very attractive financial incentives which the industries are availing of in a big way by installing WEG' s. In fact the demand for WEG' s is facing a boom at present with demand far outstripping the supply. OFB should enter into the market without delay as the number of foreign collaborators are reducing as the number of competitors increase. Also the foreign collaborator may not agree to a direct transfer of technology but may insist that OFB assemble a certain number of their products before the actual transfer of technology.
