Abstract: The project "Field Survey of Chemelex Autotrace Heat Tracing ‘Systems Sales vis-a-vis Competition" was initiated by Raychem RPG Ltd. with an aim to strengthen Chemelex position with respect to the competition. Raychem RPG Ltd. being the market leader in Electric Heat Tracing Systems wanted information on the level of satisfaction of their customers with reasons for dissatisfaction, if any. Besides these, some information on performance of products of competitors was also required. Finally, companies using steam tracing had to be surveyed, reasons for sticking to this type were to be detected, and chances of switching over to electric systems had to be found out. The term “HEAT TRACING" refers to the application of heat to the pipeline or vessel required to be maintained at an elevated temperature. The major uses of heat tracing include freeze ' protection, process temperature maintenance and preventing condensation of gases.
