Abstract: Information is regarded today as a fundamental factor of production, alongside capital and labour. The increased information intensity of economic activity, coupled to the globalization of capital flows, trade, manufacturing, and other activities, resulted in strong demand for better more varied and less costly communications and information services. Demand growth has been intertwined with rapid changes in telecom technology. These changes have made possible new ways of meeting a wider range of communication needs at low cost. In this context, telecommunication is now widely considered to be a strategic investment to maintain and develop competitive advantage at all levels - national, regional, local. Good telecom services facilitates market entry, improves customer service etc. It is an integral part of financial services, commodities market, media, transportation, and tourism and provides vital links among manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. Moreover, industrial and commercial advantage is now not only influenced by availability of telecommunication facilities, but also by the choice of network alternatives and control to reconfigure and manage networks in line with changes in corporate objectives.
