Abstract: The objective of the study was the identification and market potential of new products .The aims of the study included obtaining information on the acceptability ,the acceptable price, the indications, the target doctors and the likely demand for each new product. ~ A total of 263 doctors and 185 paramedics were surveyed in the three cities of Bombay Ahmedabad and Poona. An open ended questionnaire was administered to these doctors and paramedics who were selected from both public and private hospitals. Apart from this, stockists of every hospital visited were contacted to obtain stocking and consumption levels of the drugs relevant to the study and secondary survey was also carried out to obtain data on the market sizes, prices, growth rates etc of the relevant drugs. The following were the salient features that emerged cut of the study: NVI dextrose - The acceptability was very high for this formulation. The target doctors in this case would include cardiologists, surgeons, gynaecologists, and doctors in the general medicine category. The indications where this product is likely to be used are post-operative care and revitalisation therapy. The concentration and pack size should be 10 ml in 500 ml and an indicative HRP would be Rs 33. The market has so potential of Rs 4.5 crores.
