And as doctors have started dispensing the LVPs, the share of chemists in the market has reduced to around 10%. There are approximately 14 lac beds in India which is growing at 5% per year mainly in the private sector. The number of bottles used per bed per month is approximately 16 bottles; which totals upto an annual requirement of 26 crore bottles. The requirement of bottles/bed/month is expected to increase to 17 bottles in 1995, 18 in 1997 and 20 by the year 2000.
