Sex based discrimination is prevalent during hiring, promotion, pay, job assignments and many other aspects of employment. Women are the obvious sufferers of the gender discrimination. Gender discrimination during hiring can be seen globally but there are strict employment laws to tackle such issues during hiring process in countries like US. Such laws in India are absent and any such discrimination during hiring process goes unnoticed. Women also do not report such issues and most of them are reluctant to fight back. But this is highly unfair to treat women inferior to their male counterparts during hiring when both have same qualification, same grades etc. So, it is very important to address all the issues being faced by women and take corrective actions against them and most important is to get a real time analysis of the ground situation during hiring in the Indian industries. The objective of our project is “To trace out the existence of gender discrimination (if any) in the Indian IT-sector hiring”.
