dc.description.abstractWe started this project with the aim of analyzing the various ways in which the power sector in India is being deregulated. On analysis, Private-Public-Partnerships (PPPs) emerged as one of the primary ways in which the Indian power sector (especially the Transmission and Distribution sector) was being deregulated. India has successfully adopted the PPP model in several of its projects in infrastructure sector, health solutions delivery and also power sector. Consequently we decided to analyze the various PPPs (successful and failed) to understand what a successful PPP would require. In the course of this study, we aimed to understand the Power sector in India, the various regulations and policies that drive the sector and then analyze two successful PPP’s (Torrent Power Grid Limited and Powerlinks Transmission Limited) and one failed PPP (the Dabhol Power Company). As a final stage of this analysis, we also come out with basic requirements that will help determine if a particular will be successful or not.
