dc.description.abstract | Paper Packaging Industry is one of oldest industry which dates back to 14th century. Though it has been in existfrom such a long time very little research has been done in the process and innovation of this particular industry. The primary reason for this lack of interest can be attributed to the low cost involved for packaging materials. Inthis paper we discussed about the present global packaging market and its segregation based on the type ofmaterials used. In context of India we extensively spoke about the paper based packaging industry. Wecalculated the market size in India and the type of packaging’s present. Then we studied the process of paperboard manufacture in detail where we discussed the types of corrugated boxes. After that we discussed aboutthe supply chain of this industry. Initially we studied about the players present in the industry observing theircapacity installations, market demand and the source of raw materials. Later we discussed extensively on theprocesses involved in the supply chain as well as the value addition at each stage of the process. Now a day’smany companies started to evaluate their supply chain based on carbon foot print along with normal cashaccounting. On these lines we discussed about the green initiatives started by some of the players in theindustry and the possible sources of future innovation for the company under discussion. At this stage wediscussed in detail about the packaging process occurring in a mobile manufacturing plant. The various processand players involved in the process are clearly shown. The packaging methods of the company under discussionare compared with other companies in the industry, whom are not interested in being quoted. Finally someinnovations made in FMCG manufacturers are discussed which can be implemented, in the present companyunder discussion. | |
