The emergence of Indian politician: A study

Abstract

The emergence of the candidates in Indian Politics relates to the theory of knowing where the politicians are coming from. How is the pool of candidates (from which the political parties select candidates for contesting elections) being formed? There has not been much research on this specific area of pool of candidates and through this study we try to answer few questions related to the formation of the pool of candidates. The categories that we see as important from which the candidates emerge are as follows: 1) Dynasty 2) Ideology 3) Wealth & Fame 4) Criminal background 5) Caste Politics. The major focus of this report would be to analyze the trends in dynastic politics considering the way it has been quoted these days in media. We would like to know how much in a state is by the way of being dynast. For this we would analyze data over three Lok sabha elections for three states
