This Paper reviews the emergence of the nascent wine industry in India and factors which contributed to the same, with special emphasis on Grover Wines, the pioneers of Indian wine making. We shall delve into the depths of what factors drive entrepreneurship into creation of an entirely new industry and the challenges faced by the pioneers in the light of socio-political norms. It is followed up by an evaluation of the wine industry in India, as it stands today, from an entrepreneurial strategy point of view and recommendations into the future.
