We read about such initiatives from various sources and feel the urge to contribute to this end. But most of the people are not able to do anything about the problems on account of busy schedules or other excuses which applies to us too. Water management poses a different kind of problem as this issue is not that visible. Even though the earth is covered with 70% with water, the portable water is very less compared to that. During our stay at IIM Bangalore, we have observed different innovative systems in place to provide a world class learning environment to the students. The versatile water management within the campus is far advanced compared to many other water management systems for comparable area spanning over 100 acres. The beautiful and environment-friendly campus of IIM Bangalore has been catering to the needs of the student since its inception. But with increasing intake of students every year, the well established system at IIMB has been constantly falling under overload pressure. The management has been continuously working on making the system in-line with the current needs and increasing capacity of the system, yet the old infrastructure of the campus has been a constraining factor to possible innovative measures available. Through this case study, we have tried to understand the know-how of sustainable usage of water usage within the campus and suggest some improvement plan keeping in mind various constraints of resources. | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/18869 |
