The world is talking about the two fastest growing nations of the world – India and China as being the torchbearers in the road to recovery from the global financial recession. Being similar in various demographic, social and economic characteristics, we found it intriguing to conduct a comparative study of some of the leading sectors, which have contributed to the GDP growth of the two countries in a major way. Despite posting robust growth in the last few years, India and China together have a large population of people living on less than $4 per day. In this regard, it is crucial for these economies to focus on sectors which create economic opportunity by having a multiplier effect on job creation, infrastructure development as well as contribute to growth. The Tourism sector proves to be ideal in these aspects. It has the potential to alleviate poverty, impact the local and global value chains and give rise to innovative business models which can expand economic opportunities for the disadvantaged. Objectives: 1). To identify and analyse the factors that have led to the growth of tourism in India & China. 2) and learnings for the two nations from each other Methodology The proposed methodology of our study is as follows: * Literature Review to collect data on past trends and statistics to assess the growth of different types tourism in the two countries as mention above. * Study the different policies and regulations in existence affecting the tourism sector in the two countries. * Secondary research on impact of tourism on different sectors like infrastructure, trade relations, employment, etc.
