Abstract: Technically Information Technology is defined as that branch of science that deals with the use of computers to store, retrieve and transmit information. The term first appeared in a Harvard Business Review article1 in 1958 wherein the authors Leavitt and Whisler stated that “the new technology does not have a single established name. We shall call it information technology” . In the modern world IT is the backbone technology of the industry and has percolated every sphere of life. The IT industry is involved in building softwares which is used by industries and the general public, for a wide variety of purpose. IT involves the design, development, implementation and management of computer based information systems. In the modern era it encompasses every aspect of computing and digital technology.
