With more people preferring to access to the resource than ownership, we haveseen a rise of new economy1: “Sharing economy”. “Value unused is waste”2is themantra of sharing economy. It might be the value derived from a bed we use in thesleeping room to a vehicle which is used to transport us. Resource utilization isalways has been a concern for operation managers. But how we can optimize theutilization of resources which we use on a daily basis. Are we utilizing 100% everyday? If not, can we share it with others who are in the need of that resource at apoint in time? These questions are answered by sharing economy which leveragestechnology services to empower us in maximizing the value created by theresources. We no more need ownership of resource to use it, we just need access. And this access can be provided by superior technology such as geographictargeting etc. In this kind of economy, what possible innovations can be derived invarious fields? How can we identify the disruptive innovations which look sub –optimal today, but has the potential to create a blue ocean strategy tomorrow whichno one has ever heard of? Can we apply the likes of Couchsurfing etc which usedsharing economy concept widely to emerging economies to improve the life style ofpeople? This CCS will try to answer these questions.
