It reached INR 728 billion in 2011 registering a growth of 12 percent over 2010 according to FICCI-KPMG report. In the midst of all the challenges that the television broadcasting industry faces, there are many opportunities leading it to new heights like digitization, DTH distribution, regionalization and flow of foreign direct investment open up huge opportunity for the broadcasting companies. However factors like digitization would prove to be a key to the success only if it is addressable which the industry has failed to do with the cable television. The increased race to acquire broadcast rights of events like Cricket World Cup, FIFA World Cup and IPL etc., the competition amongst the players has increased multifold. | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/19018 |
