Abstract: France and India are among the top 10 countries with the highest GDP in world; nevertheless their energy mixes are very different due to their industrial background. Despite this difference, both countries have common challenges and common interests in terms of energy policies. First, France and India have important energy bills that impact their trade deficits (13906 Million USD for India and 5720 Million EUR for France in March 2012). Second, they try to encourage the development of renewable sources of energy (to limit carbon emissions or replace the nuclear for instance). We believe that some synergies can be developed between the two countries in order to boost the development of renewable energy by taking into account their strengths and their intrinsic needs
