dc.description.abstractManjakudi is a rural village in the Thiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu. A successful rural education system is being run in Manjakudi and surrounding villages. The Swami Dayananda Educational Trust and Swami Dayananda Educational Society operate an Arts and Science College and four schools in and around Manjakudi. A total of 5800 schools from the surrounding 180 villages get benefited from this educational setup. In addition to schools, Vedha Patshalas are also run by the Swami Dayananda Educational Trust. Wipro, an IT major in India, operates a rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre in the premises of Manjakudi Arts and Science College and takes in students passing out from the Arts and Science College. The entire educational system is run with the support of Swami Dayananda who is a native of Manjakudi.
