Abstract: The aim of this contemporary concern study is to study the need for regulation of platforms and explore ways to effectively regulate platforms. Digital platforms are increasingly playing an important role in the economy. Platforms offer content which has a potential of disrupting conventional services. They are lowering barriers of entry, allowing faster and newer market exchanges, creating new kinds of workforce and capital, even influencing elections. As the grow more important and powerful, regulators need to adapt their tools to regulate the markets. Through this study, we aim to study the need of regulation of platforms and how to effective regulate them. They offer a potential of new market opportunities, which when compounded with customer benefits in monetary and convenience angles, can change the way the world operates. Various local bodies have tried regulating digital platforms. But to what extent can innovation be regulated? Before these platforms dictate human actions, a question that excites us is – Can Platforms be regulated?
