Abstract: The aim of this study is to understand the rationale behind non-inclusion of women in combat roles in Indian Armed Forces and analyse the policy implementations which could take place to include them in combat roles.. Existing studies have mostly focussed on women not being strong enough and being vulnerable to assault which prevents them from being included in combat roles. The aim of the paper is to substantiate the policy implementations and take cues from other countries where women have been successfully inducted into combat roles. Key Takeaways from the paper 1. Understanding the rationale behind not including women in combat roles in Armed Forces. 2. Policy measures at various stages in the lifecycle of an officer which can ese the transition of women into combat roles. 3. Analyse the attitude changes which men and women would undergo by including women in combat roles.
