However, it was implemented by the Government of India in 2010. Private schools are mandated to reserve 25% of seats under this act for underprivileged students based on their economic and social status. The Government of Karnataka brought RTE into force in the year 2012. The Annual Income criteria for admission is capped at Rs 3.5 lacs, however, there is a preference for children of parents with income below Rs. 1 lakh. Our study aims at identifying the awareness penetration of RTE Act amongst contract workers at IIMB.
