dc.description.abstract | As part of this project we worked upon the value stream of a supplier of XYZ firm who is involved in producing the Spring Seat part. We studied how lean manufacturing is achieved at XYZ using a continuous improvement process in the production system to accomplish an increase in overall value delivery and eliminate waste. This primarily consists of two processes System CIP and Point CIP as well as other important standards followed such as OEE, KPI tree, VSM and VSD. Based on the information provided in the VSM of the supplier, we observed the different processed involved and computed the bottlenecks. The second visual inspection process emerged as a crucial bottleneck. We further worked upon the Kaizen list provided by the company to prioritize them by applying the lean processes learnt. Considering XYZ’s company policy and online mode of working, some sensitive information, which could have helped us arrive at the better output, could not be shared. Thus our solutions involve assumptions in addition to the qualitative inputs we had. As a next step, company can use a quantitative approach to validate the prioritization provided here and quantify the Kaizens. This can be followed by implementing them on small scale and monitoring the sustenance of implemented changes. | |
