Abstract: According to World Health Organization’s latest report released in Feb’17, about 7.5% of Indians suffer from mental disorders which require careful intervention by the experts. Such disorders add to the increased sadness, disturbed sleep or appetite, poor concentration, demotivation etc., The report also stresses that the depression cannot be ignored and should be given careful attention. Even though there are well known treatments for addressing such issues of depression and other related disorders, less than half of those affected people receive proper treatments and get cured. The main reason for non-accessibility of such proper treatments are the barriers to access the facilities available due to lack of resources, lack of qualified health-care providers and social stigma associated with such mental disorders. Another important barrier is the improper assessment of the disorders prevailing among the people. (1) This clearly shows the less focus was given to mental health and the disorders associated with that. This is one of the reasons for the corporates for not focusing much on the mental health sector for their CSR spend.
