dc.description.abstract | There is a popular quote saying “I won’t be impressed with technology until I can download food” and this statement almost became a reality with the evolution of online food delivery to customers. The interview of founders of Swiggy, an online food ordering app, reveals that it was initially the personal motivation that triggered them into starting a delivery service. They said, “We understood that ordering platforms for restaurants were very broken. Ordering food has always been a big hassle, and hence, we decided to take the plunge and fix it with Swiggy.” Online food delivery grew into a big industry with enormous growth opportunities because of the welcoming nature of the customers and hence the industry faces huge competition from different players. Surviving in the highly competitive nascent market has its own set of challenges and companies are struggling to understand the nuances of the business. | |
