Abstract: Blockchain has raised interest of corporates and governments alike due to its disruptive technology. The scope of implementation goes beyond any single sector. Companies in health, logistics, finance among a few are implementing Blockchain solutions to improve efficiency. In this paper, we discuss the Blockchain concept and architecture that makes it so useful. We skim through various applications of blockchain, and especially try to understand its scope in finance. In Section 5 and 6, we will look at the current state of blockchain implementation in the World in general and India in particular. In Section 7, we will look at newer ways that blockchain can be used to make improvements in India. Further, we will discuss the challenges and way forward for the technology, especially in India.
