As has been suggested by extant literature and exemplified by firms known for being innovative, culture is a key driver of innovation in an organization. The paper tries to explore this relationship between organizational culture and innovation – whether such a relationship exists at all; a framework to define types of organizational culture based on a certain set of values and how organizational goals influence the adoption of a particular culture; the variables that make up an organizational culture and how they are likely to foster or impede innovation; whether the choice of organizational culture is influenced by the nature of innovation – radical vs incremental and innovation generation vs adoption, and whether a particular organizational culture emerges as a natural choice for firms with a focus on innovation
