dc.description.abstract | This project attempts to study the use of technology (and the TV in particular) in bringing about financial inclusion in India. We study different policy reports to assess the current situation of IT-enabled financial inclusion, as well as look at how other countries have incorporated technology to enable branchless banking. After learning about the proliferation of different banking delivery channels such as mobile banking, phone banking across the globe, we deduce a critical gap in the use of such media – the television. By use of a simple illustration, we show how the TV can effectively disseminate financial information and provide account access in a secure, easy-to-use manner in the Indian context. | |
