dc.description.abstract | We live in an age of highly advanced technology where meeting deadlines and results is considered the be all end all of everything. In this never ending race to produce better results, we seem to forget our greatest asset- the employees. For long the Human Resources department or HR for short seems to recede in comparison to the more talked about departments like finance, marketing or IT The project aims to study the evolving role of the HR department in organisations today. With the middle management playing a pivotal role, the line between the functions of an HR and middle management seems to have blurred. Apart from analysing whether there exists a cause and effect relationship between the perceptions of emerging professionals and the role of HR department, we also look at whether the HR department has been reduced to simply performing process tasks like compensation management, induction and training of employees and so on or is there a larger motivational role for them today considering the fact that we live in terms where the sole yardstick for employee retention is productivity and output. To carry out this project, we decided to distinguish between the process and non-process roles to find out the relevance of the HR roles in each area | |
