This paper explores rising non-performing assets in banking system in India. Banking is said to be backbone of the financial system and its health can be determined by analysing the non-performing assets. Due to global turmoil, NPAs are rising in India and thus deteriorating the economy. NPAs also signal credibility to outside world. Through this paper, we intend to find the reasons behind the rising NPAs and thus the steps which can be taken by the government and corporate to curb the same. We have also gathered thoughts from the top professionals in banking and industry sector to come up with a macroscopic view.
