dc.description.abstract | When talking about Bangalore, one will surely speak about its IT cluster, its ability to attract big companies and its development as the “New India”. With a population of over 11 million in 2016, Bangalore is one of India’s biggest cities and has been able to structure itself in a way no other cities have. Whereas other cities were preferred in the 1970s and 1980s for the settlement of technology-related firms, Bangalore has been able to outperform its peers since the end of the 1990s. Other cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata have been dubbed as the economic centers of India but at the end Bangalore always wins and has appeared as an imperative for every firm wanting to develop in the IT industry. For some, and especially officials, Bangalore is set to be the biggest IT cluster globally: whether it is true or not, it is important to understand how even such an outstanding promise can be taking seriously and considered. | |
