Keywords: | Sports infrastructure;Sports industry;Sports retailing | Issue Date: | 2010 | Publisher: | Indian Institute of Management Bangalore | Series/Report no.: | PGP_CCS_P10_065 | Abstract: | All sports require some kind of infrastructure which could either range from a sporting gear to a field (playing area). For example, team sports like football, cricket and hockey require stadiums while chess or carom can be played in a room with their boards. The complexity of the infrastructure has evolved over the years with new sports coming in and lot of monitoring done by regulatory bodies or federations. Also, certain sports like archery, shooting, gold require sophisticated gears or equipments along with a separate field to conduct the sport. With technological sophistication coming in due to research & development and proliferation in competitiveness of sports, there is a shift in players’ preference for international brands over local / domestic brands. This has led to a phenomenal growth of sports retail across countries. | URI: | https://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/2074/20871 |
